Lisa Lor studied Textile and Fashion Design at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a certificate in Japanese communication. She now designs for her own brands, LLORE, which focuses on contemporary womenswear.
"I combined streetwear, tech, and military styles with exaggerated textures and a mixture of bold and muted colors to create an eclectic vision of a world that has been consumed by technology leading to a mixed reality future. I’ve combined several textile methods, such as weaving, paper string grids, and shirring. Each element was carefully chosen to represent a different aspect of cyberpunk retro-futurism– I use 3M reflective taffeta fabric to symbolize the fusion of technology and fashion. The rigid string grid acts as a cage and represents how we are often trapped in a virtual world, where we go to escape from reality. It symbolizes the limitations between ourselves and technology that we've become reliant on, forgetting to explore the real world. With the addition of weaving, I incorporate wires and chords that give power to technological devices."
My senior thesis 2024 explores the concept of cyberpunk retro-futurism in contemporary society. This collection explores ideas about the future and how society is engulfed in a tech-savvy world where many technological inventions are serving as a diversion from real-world problems, creating a dystopian society for people.

"My designs are inspired by the abstract designs of the buildings that create movements and fluidity. I focused on the repeated intersected patterns to design pieces that are oddly satisfying to the eyes. Furthermore, my collection explores the experimentation of texture and shape. During the design thought process, I focused on patterns, movements, and shapes on buildings outside for inspiration."
The Architecture Project mission was to design a collection inspired by architecture followed by sewing one outfit and creating a tech-pack for the collection.
"During Spring 2024, I was given the opportunity to intern as a remote apparel design intern at the Madison Isthmus City Football club, a competitive adult soccer team. I created tech-packs for projects that I worked on such as designing soccer jerseys for the team, creating other sports apparel through the use of Clo3D, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Being inexperienced in athletic apparel, I came into this organization blindly in hopes that it would give me the experience of creating garments that are in a different area of fashion design while simultaneously challenging myself to something different to further my design creativity. Each design allowed me to project my design skills in different areas of creativity that I wasn’t familiar with. However, it challenged me to become a better all-around artist. "
